Manager Data Engineering

Designs, builds, and maintains the infrastructure that supports data storage, processing, and retrieval. Works with large data sets and develops data pipelines that move data from source systems to data warehouses and other data storage and processing systems.

• Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server environments to design solutions in line with industry best practice.
• Design, implement, and evolve robust and effectively aligned architecture solutions that operate in the business ecosystem.
• Approve database specifications, ensuring all agreed standards and protocols are followed and data integrity is preserved.
• Drive advances in technologies and architectures to increase the value delivered by technology and digital capabilities.
• Discuss and recommend more complex or innovative technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/application software.
• Install and test the most complex databases and associated products to ensure they are suitable for use.
• Document complex "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability.
• Lead in detecting and analyzing security incidents and remediate any security gaps.
• Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team.
• Manage and report on the performance of a substantial team; set appropriate performance objectives and hold individuals accountable.
• Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs.

• Certifications in relevant data engineering, cloud, or leadership domains.
• Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with data security and privacy considerations.
