Job Description
The Professional Nurse/Clinical Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, and implementation of individualized, holistic nursing care for patients, families, or the community. This role coordinates patient care within a multi-disciplinary health team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a clinical resource in assisting personnel with nursing care.
- Ensure communication and interaction with family and health professionals.
- Assess, plan, and implement advanced nursing care according to standard procedures.
- Initiate, direct, and maintain emergency treatment as indicated.
- Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Evaluate patients' care needs and initiate individualized nursing care plans.
- Prepare shift documentation reflecting patient status.
- Provide input in formulating patient care policies and procedures.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Allocate staff optimally for nursing care.
- Maintain professional development and keep current with policies.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Requirements
- Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a NICU environment.
- Shift leading experience in NICU is an advantage.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practices.
- Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles.
